Subversive Cross Stitching!

I’ve been interested in doing this for a while — making tongue-in-cheek, snarky statement pieces in needlework. Well, this afternoon, instead of cleaning, I started a new project which I may use for a giveaway in my next promo party for my paranormal romance / urban fantasy series, the Talbot Trilogy.

So . . . Behold! My grand return to cross stitching after a year’s hiatus!

Not sure yet whether the mouth is done. I’m kind of picturing the border as a running list of famous vampires, maybe with roses and thorns. Definitely dripping blood. I thought about trying to do a vampire’s face in quarter turn, silhouetted, but that may be out of my skill set.

And then, there’s deciding what it will become — a magnet? Framed picture? Scented pillow?

Throw me some options in the comments and I’ll see what I can do!

I love vampires, witches, ghosts, and zombies, but I’m also a huge fan of fairies, elves, hobbits, dragons, imps, dwarves…the magical/magickal world entrances me. I’m grateful to have found this picture in my records — it was so difficult to give it away, and now I can make another!

It’s all supernatural to me!

A wee fairy dancing in the moonlight… I made this by free styling one summer, when my daughter was invited to a birthday party but I had little money to buy a gift for the five-year-old.
